I’m applying to Calderdale College’s BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts Dance 90 Credit Diploma 1 Year Course because I want to pursue dance in my career as a dance teacher and I feel that your course is the best for me to achieve my goals. I hope to set up my own dance school after university as dance has been in my life ever since I was a child and I want that to continue as I grow up. I feel that Calderdale College can help me achieve those goals by improving my dancing and pushing my boundaries both technically and creatively.
I have been dancing for about 10 years and my strongest dance style is classical ballet. I am home-educated, I’m diligent and have a good work ethic in my studies. I am able to apply my work ethic to many things including your course and the work involved. I have done a few performances before and I have a high level of professionalism when I’m on the stage. I have recently done a performance with my ballet school and my teacher and others who came to watch said it was a great success. I believe that your performance units will further that professionalism in my dancing and when I’m on stage to help with my university course later in life and also when I hope to teach. When I was younger a did a ballet dance in a gala. We had to dance on grass and I learnt to adapt my dancing to different environments other than just a stage or dance studio. I’m very focused and although my strongest style is ballet I would like to explore some of the many different styles you have to offer on this BTEC course.
I hope to expand my dance skills and I feel Calderdale College has a great variety of dance styles to develop and improve my dancing. For example I am particularly interested in your urban dance unit and your physical theatre as they are dance styles I haven’t really tried before. Although as I haven’t had much experience working in a group, I’m willing to try my best, working with and around others and I feel that this is something that could be developed and improved on your course as I will be working with other people in most units. I’m not very good at being versatile in my choreography, however I feel that Calderdale College can help me with that, because of the many different styles I will be learning, I can then apply them to my choreography.
Dancing is defiantly something a want to do with my life and I know this course will help me achieve my goals and dreams. I hope to hear from you soon.
